Most of you will know that Bill Preston has been doing a superb job of maintaining the Green over many years supported by a small team of helpers (mainly John Henshall, Geoff Beard and occasionally David Peachey). Bill has now decided to call it a day.
The green needs to be cut once/twice a week in the growing season, watered when the weather is dry and generally kept tidy. Bill is happy to continue doing some of the watering. We would therefore like to recruit some more volunteers able to share the mowing job once or twice a month. It is a really nice way to spend an hour or so from time to time, and we’ll show you how to handle the mower. The good news is that we will soon be buying a new mower which will make life easier.
