Green Update

Thanks to all who came to work on the green last Tuesday. Some good progress was made but there is still much to do.

There will be regular working parties each Thursday morning 10am-12pm until the bowling season starts. We ask that only those who have some spare time and are fit should come along! Any time you can give will be gratefully appreciated. Please bring gloves and equipment.

For those members who have not been up to the green lately, GVH has cleared the area behind the shelter and the corner at the back of the green.

The pathways are now easier to access and are safer.

Geoff and John will be putting down membrane, bought by the Club, to reduce ongoing maintenance. We will then be landscaping. Ideas very welcome. Email [email protected]

Some retaining walls at the back of the shelter will be necessary.

Areas at the back of the green will have flagstones for benches or chairs.

Benches need to be freshened up.

To get ready for the new season, the bench cushion covers could do with a wash.

If you can help with any of this, please email [email protected] to let us know.

Brian is going to trim the tops off the beech hedge adjacent to our mower shed. Laura has put some bird boxes in the hedge ready for the nesting season.

Bob and Mike are going to repair the access slope. Bob thinks this should be carried out in April at a suitable time to avoid any frost damage. GVH are getting quotes to replace the handrail.
