The Chester and District Bowling League Merit – Champion of Champions 2019, held at Burton & Puddington Bowls Club on Sunday 1 September 2019, was a resounding success.
The weather was kind and everyone enjoyed a bowling event undertaken in a great spirit with an exciting final to top it off. The winner was Tony Kirkham – Connah’s Quay ‘A’ and the runner-up was Matty Worden – Woodland Hotel.
Simon Walker, Fixtures Secretary for the League, commented: “May I take this opportunity to thank everyone at Burton & Puddington Bowling Club who helped make Sunday’s Champion of Champions competition a great success. Everyone commented on the superb condition of the green. The ladies put on a fabulous spread for the competitors and officials. Their wonderful hospitality was noted by all the visitors. It was good to see lots of Burton and Puddington club members who came along to support the event. Many commented that there was some fantastic bowling played by the competitors.”
Lesley Williams, League Secretary, praised the club’s high level of organisation and attention to detail. “Everything was perfect, the green, the catering, car-parking arrangements, stewarding, number of helpers and contributors of food in addition to the intense level of helpers throughout the day which made it look easy. But we all know how hard you must have worked to ensure that it seemed so effortless. I cannot praise you highly enough.”
